Westways has a very good record in the Sheffield Schools' Cross Country Running competition and regularly fields the largest team!

The Cross Country teams is for boys and girls of all abilities from Y4 to Y6. Races take place at schools throughout Sheffield. For pictures of this season's race at the Bole Hills click here! To see the 2007 sports medal presentation pictures, click here.
In the running season, parents meet at 8.45 in Mona Road to arrange lifts for everyone who wants to take part. A fee of £1 per race to pay for the race organisation is collected. If you would like to know more, contact us.
All of the children will be provided with school shirts to wear at the races. They should also wear training shoes that they do not mind getting muddy. The races themselves start at 10.00 and are usually finished by 11.00.
Training sessions for cross country are on Wednesdays (from 3.20 - 4.30pm). It will take place at Westways from the 28th September. Parents should arrange for their children to be picked up from Western Building at 4.30pm. If your child goes to After School Club, we can walk them down there after training. Please let WASC know about the arrangement. The children should wear P.E. kit or tracksuit bottoms and training shoes. Jeans are not suitable for the running training sessions.
