Its a couple of weeks away,yes im talking about the SATs.The word "SAT" sends a chill down my spine when i hear that word said in public (or even in my mind) but im feeling more confident the closer it gets! how are YOU doing?!?

To Be Honest I Didnt Like Westways But I Like To Nosey On Here...But 4 All You Year 6's...If You Have A Teacher Called Mrs Seccombe She Is MEGA Nice...And On The Other Hand IF You Have Mr Mills For History...BEWARE!!!!

Yeah Y8 Student..haha...Im A Year 7 And its great science is better, technology is wayyyyyy better and so is ICT..yey

oh yeah, I forgot, any year sixes going on the residential I'm sure thornbridge will be great. It's a shame your not going to robin wood though, as it was the best thing I've ever done in my life (except the spanish trip to murcia in y7 and the mallorca trip in y8 hehe)

well, king teds is great especially in year 7 but just watch out for the year 9's cos they're just mean. If you are a year 7, it' the rules that you have to be annoying so go for it. Just ignore the years above you and you should be fine. but generally the teachers are great and nice and as for mr. mills you just have to get used to him shouting instead of talking he just wants the attention!

Well done to the Westways sports teams. I've seen the pictures of the cross country and basketball on the website. Winning the basketball is a tremendous achievement and I have let my children in the USA know all about it. They are very impressed.

The head is really nice and she is called Melany Homes - is King Teds as good as I hear it is?

I think westways is a great school because you don't wear school uniforms.I like the christmas parties.

Really saddened to hear Mr. Ellison passed away. He was a great teacher, and I have very fond memories of him. Is there any way of knowing what any of the other old teachers are up to now? I left around 1985

hey that school was the best years of my life i would still love to go back and visit all my old teachers :) if they lasted :)

school is great, but the girls toilets are abserloutly disging I mean have you ever seen them, but trust me you don't even want to see them.

I attended Westways from 1971 to 1979, it was a great school then and looks like it still is! The playground and the outside of the school look just the same.

Westways is a fantastic school the only thing i don't like is the dinner room(the room of doom!)its horrible when the y5s and y6s come in after the hot dinners have eaten! they leave bits of food everywhere and its disgusting when you sit on a chair thats got mashed potato squished into it!

I really thought the songs / characters i.e zombires very imappropiate for a play and its very unchristian like of the scholl to do this.

Westways was great! The best thing about my new school is the food! That was the down fall of westways for the pupils. No offence to the dinner ladies or anything but it could really do with a change. It has changed numerous tmes- I am aware of that but each time it has changed, it has been worse they say it is "healthier" but how can they expect children to eat healthier food when it is completely inedible? Do any pupils agree or disagree with this?

I disagree with your comment because i was in the play playing frankenstiens bride and i asked the teacher who put it together and he said its a change from all the other plays so why shouldnt we do it?

I have loads of memories from westways, mostly from year 6. I was taught by Mr. Ellison. I think the site should have some kind of memorial page, not just for Mr. Ellison, but for any other teachers that have passed away, or left Westways.
Editor: Francesca, that is an excellent idea. I will try and find out if anyone is willing to contribute some memories, particularly of Mr Ellison.

What can i say! Im in year six and i enjoyed doing the christmas play (nathans christmas nightmare!) I think i had a very good costume ( thank you mrs scott!) but it was a bit of a kurfuffle getting the dress on..hehe..I think westways is really good and im really going to miss it!

As a former student at Westways (2001-2003), I feel like I need to let people know just what an awesome school it really is.
When I moved from america to sheffield I was a little shocked and scared by the huge change in environment, but the kids at Westways were so amazingly friendly to me! Everyone was welcoming.
I have been to many different schools, but Westways was by far the best!

Thoroughly enjoyed watching the children give their all in the play .. always good for a laugh but probably not as funny in previous years.

i used to go to this school its a lot better than the school i go to now.

I thought the school play was absolutely fantastic. I think it is brilliant that every child in the school is able to take part and feels included whatever their religion or belief. well done to all the staff and children involved.

I thought it was fantastic! My daughter felt so excited about being in it and had rehearsed enough to feel confident. She used to attend a church school and this was a breath of fresh air - no infighting over who was chosen to play Mary/Joseph - and it obviously catered for the vast international intake at Westways. Well done to everyone involved, great entertainment, Thriller and Time Warp were such fun. I hope the little one on the drums got an extra mince pie!

Well I think you're completely mad as it was a great play! Hardly any of the plays in KS2 are to do with Christianity anyway so what is your problem?
(Where did you get educated in spelling-it obviously wasn't Westways!)

I am not aguing about the acting / dancing side of the play and the effort put in by both Children / teachers alike is second to none. I just felt this year was not upto the exceptionally high standards set in previous years . I would love to be able to go on Tuesday but extremely busy at work and cant get the time of plus I work over an hour away in another city but I do know it is very good and a good time is had by all. My wife and daughter have attended previous ones and will be going this tuesday.

I don't think anyone could argue that it is was not a great performance this year: funny and well acted, with some superb dancing. Both the teachers and children should be proud of this. I don't believe that there is a tradition of only Christmas-themed plays for Westways although I have fond memories of 'Sparkle' in KS1 a few years ago! For a Christian element, don't forget the "carols round the tree" next Tuesday in Western Yard.

I thought it was an absolutly fantabulous christmas production(Nathan's Christmas Nightmare). Something kids could really enjoy. Any way I enjoyed it!!

I think the play was great, we put a lot of effort into the play. Also thank you to all the staff for putting the fab effort to make the play really succsessful.

I used to be a pupil at westways,I left in 1986,I have some very fond memories of westways and remember some of the teachers then like Mr Coldwell,Mr Ellison,Mrs Marshall,Mr Davenport,Mr Hanson(head),Mrs Brown,Mrs Bennett.I used to be captain of our house team,which was strines then.lovely to see your website it is really good.xx

Dear Molly: What a kind comment! Looking after a website is quite easy, so you should persuade your school to get lots of photos and news stories online.

Excellent site - photos, information and particularly comments from past pupils. The note home location took a little finding, and could printable versions of invitations and events (such as the Arts Evening) be made? Have you any photos or information about the recorder groups and other instrument lessons and progress? Finally, who created and is maintaining the site? Congratulations to you!

I used to go to Westways,honestly it was a really good school. But I really think we need to refresh the web and bring it completly up to date. And also we need to add stuff on afterschool club.And I really miss Westways!!!!!

i think that the football bit is the best and should have some more indavidual photoes like courtney and some of the under 11 team as well but the webbi is not the best but quiet good

hello!!...i used to attend this school and to be honest used to be my fave place to be...i went to the school from reception with mrs ford!...to y6 with mr ellison. I left in 1999/2000. I was invited by mrs west to give a leaving speech for mrs ogden!!...im a qualified FA standard referee and used to play for the city and both wednesday and utd acadamies...i was very happy to see the football clubs for both the girls and boys progressing nicely!...if u need any coaching help anytime you know where to come!!! all the best!

I found this website whilst looking for a picture of the school (I was a pupil from 1989-1995). Technology has definetely moved on from my days when we had BBC computers and 5 3/4 floppy discs. Would love to ses a section with more photos of the school buildings.

(Hello, Danielle. Mrs Mitchell retired from teaching in 2005. She was a wonderful teacher and is very much missed. She still lives in Crookes and so many people still see her.)

It was good to see photos of old Crookes on the website. Well done. As one of the "old" residents of Walkley/Crookes, it was delightful to see them, even though I'm not quite that old!

Really nice site - how is it being publicised around the school - I am sure most parents are not aware that it is up and running. What about all the school policies going on the site as well as a special section for the foundation unit? Also, what about class message boards so parents can see what classes are doing/working on/targeting so they can help at home.

Looking good so far...can't wait till it's done!!! A gold star for Pete.
